Modern Day Entrepreneurship & Internet Businesses
Whether you’re a new or a returning visitor to this blog, you’ve probably noticed the little graphic in the sidebar announcing a 5 in depth questions mini - interview series. I’ve been getting questions about what this concept actually is.
To answer that : I will periodically be interviewing a web entrepreneur by asking them only 5, but in depth questions about their online endeavors.
The idea is to construct a limited number of questions in such a way that the answers will result in an understandable, interesting but most importantly insightful post for the readers. Furthermore, I’ll try to let the questions cover as many areas as possible in order for the answers to be as useful as possible.
The interviewed person can be anyone who’s started an internet endeavor and is successful in doing it. For example, I might interview a professional blogger, or an entrepreneur who had a good idea and started up an online business based on this idea.
However it could also be somebody who’s an ace at search engine optimization, since seo can be an important part of being successful on the web. In other words, it’s not necessary to be Bill Gates in order to be interviewed. As long as the result is useful.
The series will go on as long as I have candidates willing to be interviewed. So take into account that at times it might take a while before the next mini-interview is published.
On that note, the first mini-interview will feature Darren Rowse of problogger, who’s been so kind to be the first to kick the ball into play and answer 5 questions. So, many thanks to Darren for that one.
Darren’s interview will be published on Friday, this week.
It’s everywhere we look and listen. It’s in effective advertising, captivating blog posts, and creative areas such as web design and visual branding. It’s an inevitable byproduct of the information age and ironically also of our own expanding needs and wants. Most importantly though, it has undergone a gradual development from being a ‘matter of taste‘ to probably one of the most underrated success factors for online business.
Whether you’re into writing posts for your blog, doing copywriting for affiliate pages, or thinking of redesigning your wordpress theme. In our digital world of nearly endless choice, at times, you’re going to have to make it short, powerful and sweet in order to be successful.
To illustrate the importance of ‘less is more‘ as a success driver, you’ll find a short list of tips below. I’ve selected the ones I believe to be most popular, but of course there are many more. So anyone who feels they have something to add, they are most welcome to do so …
After listening to Desmond Tutu being interviewed about the crisis in Kenya on CNN I couldn’t stop thinking about how valuable somebody like he is to our world and that we have to try to learn as much as we can from some people.
I know it might be surprising for some to find an article on a blog such as newmediatype that involves Archbishop Desmond Tutu. I also know that some of the younger readers might not even know who this man is, let alone what he has to do with improving online results, blogging or internet business.
Aside from the fact that I have great respect for Desmond Tutu and that I admire his inspirational words, I think he is a great example for this article because there is a lot, that those who want to establish relationships with mass communicative characteristics (like a large blog reader community) can learn from listening to influential people like Desmond Tutu, the Dalai Lama, Mandela or Mahatma Ghandi.
This post is about how powerful communication can be, which elements can make a strong message, the impact it can have and how bloggers can integrate these aspects into their routine of communication …
* By routine of communication I mean : writing articles, making a video post and networking.

Welcome to part two of Improve your blog by spicing up your communication. If you’ve missed the first part, then click here in order to read it.
In this second part, I’d like to list 5 of the most powerful factors that bloggers can use to improve interaction with their readers, add more value to their content and make a bigger impact on their audience.
I’d like to add that I’m sure that there are more factors then the 5 I’ve listed below, but I’ve found that these are the primary ones which are most easy to apply. You may find that others factors for improvement are usually derived from these primaries.
I’ve decided to list the tips in random order. It’s up to you, the blogger to decide what works best for you. As usual you’re most welcome to add comments and opinions if you feel that there’s something useful to add …
I read a post on problogger today in which John Chow describes the best thing he did for his blog in 2007. The post is called improve you blog with a custom made theme.
In his answer to Darren’s question, John wrote that the best thing he did last year was introduce a new custom wordpress theme for his blog. He said that introducing the custom theme increased his traffic and blog earnings tremendously. He also stated that both traffic and earnings increased instantly.
As usual there’s something to say about the ‘behind the scenes‘ reasons for the success of John’s custom theme introduction.
It’s important for beginning bloggers to understand that it’s not the theme itself that attracted more visitors to his blog. It also isn’t the theme itself that made his blog earnings go up after it was introduced …
