Harmony Between Blog Branding and Monetization Means maximum Profits

When you check out the posts that are on newmediatype, along with the way the blog is branded it’s easy to notice that part of the mission is to help people that are using the web as a business platform improve their online results. This means there are tips for bloggers who want to make some money online but there also are more in depth articles about promoting and branding your blog effectively. You’ll probably even find some articles about starting your own home based business when I get some more time to write.

Indirectly most topics on newmediatype have something to do with making money on the web, be it as a business or as an individual. The nature of newmediatype, not surprisingly, attracts readers who are seeking information about online business related subjects, so logically I get the “whats the secret to making a as much money online from a blog as possible ?” question quite often.

Well, being a business communication student (specializing in marketing communication soon) I’ve thought about this question many times, and I believe there actually is an answer …

You might notice that this blog is not heavily monetized yet (blog monetization means : applying money making ideas or services to a blog in order to earn revenue from it).

Speaking of monetization, I’m not sure that newmediatype will ever be monetized as heavily as some other blogs. Like for instance a john chow’s. The reason that I am not sure about what the maximum level of monetization is going to be is obvious. First of all, newmediatype is a new blog, and though it’s slowly growing, it’s far too early to see the direction that it’s going in.

By this I mean that a certain topic on the blog could proof to be more interesting to the audience then another. Even though the latter could be earning me more money then the first. If this is the case then I would have to think about which topic deserves more time and work, depending on my blog mission. This is a strategic decision.

Combining strategic thinking with a monetization process is very important. Compare it to profits that off line businesses tries to make. Companies implement long term strategies because they don’t want to jeopardize their continuity. Imagine that I would go monetizing crazy right now and slap all sorts of money makers and blog advertising on newmediatype.

What message would I be sending to the readers ? This would be a bad branding decision. If you look closely, you can see some Google adsense ads on the blog right now. These Adsense units are merely a test and I don’t expect them to make me a lot of money. What I am really doing is testing out what kind of advertising blends in best with what the readers find acceptable.

This brings me to the point I want to make,

The secret to making the maximum amount of money from your blog at a certain point in time is harmony. I’d like to quote the post title : “Harmony between blog branding and monetization means maximum profits”.

You will need to find a balance between your blog branding and the amount, type and the different ways of monetizing. You have to make your online money making ideas blend in with your blog mission (relevant advertisement), implement the technical aspect correctly (timing and introduction) and choose your methods carefully (aggressive or less aggressive depending on brand and mission).

Monetizing your blog in a respectable and harmonious way will make sure that you don’t harm your brand by sending out the wrong messages to your readers. By taking your readers into account (readers are the engine behind your blogging venture), you have a solid and acceptable reason for monetizing your blog. This essential to growing not only your blog itself, but also your profits over time.
